3:33 — The Beginning of Motherhood

It was Tuesday, and I was at the shop receiving flower shipments for a huge wedding we had coming up that Saturday. Juju was there with me, and I mentioned that I was feeling a little strange.

He told me to go home and rest. He would get all the flowers into the cooler, and the team was coming in to cut the next day, so not to worry about it tonight.

So I left and I stopped by to visit a friends house on the way home, and she encouraged me to go home and pack my hospital bag… just incase.

Of course, I went home, started a load of laundry, and went to bed instead.

I mean, what was the rush?!

A few hours later, I couldn't sleep because I kept having this strange pain. I finally decided to download a contraction timer app to see what was going on.

Well, that cleared things up pretty quickly.

The app basically told me, "GO TO THE HOSPITAL!"

Oh. So we're doing this!

Trying to let Jamison get a little more sleep, I picked up the phone to call my mom.

And wouldn't you know it?

3:33.

If you've read the story behind 333 Designs, you know why those three little numbers made me smile. Of all the times for them to show up, there they were again!

Once we realized this baby was actually coming, it was time to get moving.

Except we had one little problem.

We couldn't figure out how to fold the stroller!

After multiple attempts, Jamison finally gave up and put the whole thing in the back of our SUV, wheels still extended.

I couldn't help but laugh. But at that point, I was ready to get to the hospital!

Now, here's the really funny part.

I had a huge wedding coming up that Saturday. The flowers had been ordered, everything was planned, and my team knew exactly what needed to happen. I had already arranged for them to handle the wedding without me, so everything was taken care of.

Apparently, I could prepare an entire team for a wedding but couldn't prepare myself to have a baby!

After more than 16 hours of unmedicated labor, our sweet Rhett arrived Wednesday night.

On our third wedding anniversary.

Three years of marriage, a 3:33 phone call, and a precious little boy who had already given us quite the story to tell.

And because I apparently don't know how to sit still, I got bored at the hospital and decided I wanted to work on that Saturday wedding.

So what did my wonderful team do?

They humored me and rolled an entire cart of flowers into the hospital so I could design the bridal bouquet!

Yes, really. There I was, in the hospital, making a wedding bouquet.

Looking back, I have to laugh. But honestly, if you know me, you're probably not surprised.

As funny as all of that was, there's one moment from Rhett's arrival that I'll treasure for the rest of my life.

Jamison had been right there beside me through it all. After Rhett was born, he looked at me with tears in his eyes and said something I'll never forget.

"I didn't think I could love you more, and then I look at him..."

Oh, my heart.

In the middle of all the chaos, the laughter, and the exhaustion, there was this beautiful little boy who had just changed our whole world.

And just like that, we were a family of three.

I've spent so much of my life planning and preparing for other people's most important moments. But one of the most beautiful moments of my own life happened in a way I never could have planned.

A 3:33 phone call, our third wedding anniversary, and now a family of three.

I couldn't have planned it more perfectly if I'd tried.

And Rhett, you certainly know how to make an entrance! ❤️
