The Meaning behind “333”
The Meaning Behind 333
Some people see three numbers. I see a story of faith, grace, and a whole lot of God's perfect timing.
Before there was 333 Designs, there was a business called To Have and To Hold. I loved weddings, but I always dreamed of creating so much more. I wanted to design things that were beautiful, different, and meaningful. Something that could be both unique and timeless.
And that's exactly what I called it.
In 2008, Unique and Timeless became the beginning of what would eventually grow into 333 Designs. At the time, I was working multiple jobs, building my business on the side, and dreaming of the day I could finally do what I loved full-time. I had the passion, the creativity, and the determination. I just didn't know how I was going to make it all happen.
Then came the summer of 2012.
I was attending a Bible study and learning about the true grace of God. Somewhere along the way, I started noticing the number three. It seemed to come up everywhere. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Jesus' years of ministry, His crucifixion, and His resurrection on the third day.
I remember finally blurting out, "What is it with God and all these threes?!"
It was funny at the time, but that question stayed with me.
I was in a season of life where I was doing a lot of praying, dreaming, and questioning. I loved what I was building, but I was exhausted from working so many jobs and trying to figure out how to turn this dream into a career. I believed God had given me this gift, but I couldn't quite see the path ahead.
One night, I went home and wrote in my journal. I prayed and asked God for a sign. Anything that might give me a little reassurance that He was in this with me and that I was heading in the right direction.
And the very next morning, there it was.
I was driving down the road when I noticed something hanging over a billboard. It was a plain white sheet with two things spray-painted across it:
3!
An actual sign. With an exclamation point!
I could hardly believe what I was seeing. I turned around to get a camera because I knew no one would believe me without a picture!
That moment has stayed with me ever since.
As I continued praying and talking with friends about the future of my business, the number three kept finding its way into our conversations. We tossed around different names, including 303, but nothing felt quite right.
Then came 333.
I loved it. It was simple, different, memorable, and didn't limit what I could create. As I began looking into the meaning people associated with the number, I came across the idea that 333 was a reminder that God was trying to tell you something. A symbol of growth, creativity, balance, and divine guidance.
For me, though, it became something much more personal.
It became a reminder to trust Him.
Over the years, I've continued to notice threes in the most unexpected places. Sometimes it's waking up at 3:33 in the morning. Sometimes it's a number on the gas pump or a mile marker on the highway. And so often, it's during the moments when I'm overwhelmed, questioning myself, or wondering how everything will work out.
But it hasn't just been in the difficult moments. It's been there in some of the most beautiful ones, too.
I'll never forget the moment I realized I was in labor with my firstborn son. I picked up the phone to call my mom, and the time was 3:33.
Of all the moments in my life, there it was again. As I was preparing to become a mother, beginning one of the most beautiful chapters of my life, those same three numbers were right there.
I don't pretend to understand every little moment or why certain things happen. But I do know what these moments have meant to me. They've reminded me to pray, to trust, and to remember all the times God has carried me through before. Through the uncertainty, the heartbreak, the answered prayers, and the most beautiful blessings, His faithfulness has been constant.
And perhaps one of the most meaningful moments came during a time that had nothing to do with business at all.
My grandmother, the same woman who made me my very first wedding dress, was nearing the end of her life. We took one last family trip to the beach, a place she loved so much.
I remember leaving the house in tears. She was one of my people. She taught me to sew, to appreciate the details, to take pride in my work, and to approach life with grace and kindness. She was meticulous, organized, gentle, and loving. So many of the qualities I still hope to reflect in my own life came from her.
My heart was heavy, and I was struggling with the thought of losing her.
And then I saw it.
Pier 33.
I stopped for coffee, and in that moment, I felt the sweetest reassurance that God had me. Even in the sadness. Even in the things I couldn't control or understand.
I'll never forget that feeling.
What began as a number I kept noticing has become a meaningful part of my story. Not because I believe a number holds the answers, but because it reminds me of the One who does.
When I decided to make 333 the name of my business, I originally wanted it to be just that: Three Three Three. But people naturally began adding words like flowers or studios, and eventually, 333 Designs became the name that brought it all together.
And looking back, I couldn't imagine anything more fitting.
333 Designs represents years of hard work, dreams that seemed impossible, prayers whispered in uncertain moments, and the grace of a God who has been faithful through it all.
It's a reminder that even when I can't see the whole picture, I can trust the One who can.
And every time I see those three numbers, I'm reminded of just how far He's brought me.
